The candidate will coordinate the day to day operation of the Slide Send out ensuring all resources are effectively utilized and all issues are handled promptly and appropriately. Process requests for slides and materials from patients,physicians, attorneys and other sources. This includes but is not limited to error problem investigation. Identifies, analyzes and resolves problems related to day to day clerical operations including turn around time and troubleshooting errors. Promote employee professional growth and development by assessing skill competency support department based employee goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serve as a mentor and a resource for less experienced employees.
40% - Will coordinate the day to day operation of Slide Send out ensuring all resources are effectively utilized and all issues are handled promptly and appropriately This includes but is not limited to Eagle registration, accessioning, error/problem investigation, MERS reporting, and reconciliation of specimen logs. Identifies, analyzes and resolves work problems related to day to day clerical operations including turnaround time and trouble shooting errors.
10% - Promote employee professional growth and development by assessing skill competency, support department based employee goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serve as a mentor and a resource for less experienced employees. Responsible for implementing performance improvement process and demonstrating improved outcomes. Provides annual performance evaluations. Monitors staff attendance and vacation requests. Takes necessary disciplinary measures when needed.
50% - Triage routine and non-routine requests including clinical trials, patient request and law office request. Perform data entry into laboratory information system documenting regular information, what material has. Record and log in all requests for records and materials. Obtain patient consent for the release of any reports, results or records. Obtain Risk Management consent when appropriate. Retrieve original records for Pathologist review and selection for recuts and sendout. Process requests for recuts in Histology Laboratory. Review recut slides and present to Pathologist for approval. Collect and record processing fees. Process credit card charges, issue receipts and invoices. Maintain logs and running totals for fees billed. Prioritize requests. Collect data, data entry, manipulate and maintenance of data for QA/QI.
Requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus 2 years of related experience
Working knowledge of Copath preferred.
Must be able to work well under pressure; organize and coordinate staff responsibilities. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communications and a team player are required.
