Job Title: Business Analyst Office: Washington, DC Department: Information Technology Reports To: Director of Project Management Office FLSA Status: Exempt Schedule:Core Hours: 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday - Friday; additional hours as required to fulfill responsibilities
GENERAL SUMMARY: Under general supervision of the Director of Project Management Office, and following prescribed department, office and firm procedures, the Business Analyst will be responsible for working with various stakeholders to facilitate solutions. The Business Analyst will also gather and clearly document business requirements and work closely with project managers and Business Systems Analysts to document technical requirements. The Business Analyst is expected to perform all responsibilities with a commitment to providing superior service to the firm's clients, attorneys, advisors and staff, and maintaining an atmosphere of teamwork and continuous improvement. Above all, the Business Analyst must fulfill the needs of the firm in a manner which is consistent with the Firm's Core Values.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES(Duties are performed throughout every work day, as necessary):
Conduct interviews to gather and formally document business requirements through meetings (including teleconferences), focus group sessions, surveys, identifying use-cases and other methods that include:
Business problem identification, value proposition and business case definition.
Root cause analysis
Prioritization and elicitation of requirements
Defining business case scope and priority analysis
Using a multi-phase project approach and decision-making tools, work with stakeholders and the project team to prioritize collected requirements.
Gather and use metrics to assist with establishing and vetting business cases, conduct variance analyses, as well as dependency and risk analyses.
Write clear requirements and create data models, process diagrams, wireframes or other visuals where applicable
Provide actionable analysis of requirements and business cases to identify gaps, provide guidance and make recommendations
Assist project owners and sponsors with completing project charters by:
Working closely with the Business Systems Analysts to develop clear and comprehensive Technical Requirements
Clearly identifying and agreeing on project stakeholders, business-, application- and technical owners, where applicable.
Establishing the scope and parameters of requirements analysis to define project impact, success criteria and metrics.
Research, review, and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing requirements gathering processes and develop strategies for enhancing or further leveraging these processes.
Coordinate and document evaluation and selection process for solutions and services.
Assist in quality assurance and use case testing.

Familiarity with business process management tools and techniques, such as decision trees, decision tables, state mapping, etc.
Thorough knowledge of MS Office applications including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook and PowerPoint

Strong attention to detail

EDUCATIONAL/JOB EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Extensive experience in law firms or other professional services firms
Knowledge or familiarity with ITIL methodologies
Certification preferred (ECBA, CCBA, CBAP, CFLBA or similar)
