This position is responsible for enhancing wealth management services by providing comprehensive financial planning services to clients. This Advisor serves as an in-house expert resource on financial planning strategies. This Advisor works collaboratively with Investment-focused Advisors and other specialists to understand the client’s unique financial objectives and deliver the most appropriate client centered advice.There will be a responsibility for the development of new business over time.
Prepare and Present Comprehensive Financial Plans to Clients.
Using Bartlett’s Financial Planning Process, provides sophisticated, high quality advice on a full spectrum of financial planning matters. Gathers and analyzes client financial data and objectives, and prepares and presents realistic, meaningful recommendations based on the clients’ financial situations and goals.
Convenes with clients’ other advisors, including attorneys, accountants, trust officers, and investment bankers, to fully understand clients’ financial goals and circumstances and share recommendations.
Participate and contribute to the Bartlett’s Financial Planning team to share best practices.
Exhibit appropriate and broad-based understanding of investments, allowing for capable articulation of the firm’s investment strategies and viewpoints.
Maintain professional licenses and obtain continuing education to further financial planning knowledge.
Stay current on existing and developing trends, strategies, and precedent-setting decisions on federal and state issues and the impact of any changing regulations and legislative rulings (including tax laws) on client financial plans.
Provide top quality client service.
Develop and maintain consistent client contact and communications to insure maximum client satisfaction.
Form relationships with clients who are currently served by another Bartlett advisor to prepare for a transition between primary advisors over time.
Discuss strategies with clients to insure current strategies are relevant and continuing to meet their needs, goals and objectives.
Keep clients apprised of portfolio status and progress.
Develop and maintain good relationships with client’s other professional advisors (i.e., accountants, lawyers, etc.).
Develop additional revenue producing business.
Develop referral networks with individuals likely to be significant professional advisors (i.e., accountants, lawyers, etc.).
Work with advisors and others in the firm, external sources and centers of influence to develop new business opportunities.
Partner and collaborate with advisors to identify and expand planning services with existing clients and ensure opportunities are maximized.
Establish a presence in the community and become a Bartlett Ambassador.
The ideal Advisor will:
Have advanced knowledge and understanding of financial planning strategies and techniques appropriate for high net worth clients, including:
Income tax and estate planning
Taxation of individuals and trusts
Insurance (annuities, long-term care, hybrid policies and income replacement)
Business planning & succession planning
Wealth transfer planning through LLCs, GRATs, IDGTs, etc.
Charitable planning through Donor Advised Funds, Private Foundations, CRTs, CLTs, etc.
Have strong work ethic and commitment to success.
Have excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
Have a commitment to providing superior client service and ability to build and maintain strong relationships, both externally and internally.
Have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to listen and interpret, gather objective information, negotiate, and respond to all levels of interaction.
Be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team and with a wide array of people.
Have a sense of urgency with a strong attention to detail.
Act with a high degree of integrity and ethics, both personally and professionally.
Be articulate, have a professional demeanor, and present a good image.
Have a strong working knowledge of eMoney Advisor.
Be computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and have the ability to adapt to new office technology.
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or related field.
Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designation is required.
CPA or CFA designation is preferred.
10+ years of relevant, client-facing experience, preferably with an RIA/wealth management firm and with high net worth clients.
Strong financial planning experience with personal tax-focused expertise.
