Meet with clients to prepare them for the processes of their case and give them regular updates.
Handle consultations with clients where you assess their case and present a strategy and execute a contract clearing defining the scope of the representation.
Monitor case statuses and meet all deadlines.
Track time, record case progress, and communicate with clients via Clio cloud based software.
Regularly study the law and work with other attorneys at the firm.
Properly close matters with termination letters and good client communication.
Attend immigration interviews at USCIS, master and merits hearings.
Visit clients in jail as necessary.
Review strategy on your cases and with other attorneys’ cases regularly.
Member of the Utah State Bar in good standing preferred, or a member in another jurisdiction of the United States that allows you to practice immigration law
Ability to handle high case load and work well with clients
Experience in labor certifications, H1b's, H2b's, EB visas, and employment based visas in general

Our small, busy, lawfirm is seeking an associate attorney to help us with immigration benefits work and employment based immigration. You will be joining two other full-time attorneys in our busy practice who do Removal Defense, Immigration Benefits mostly family based immigration, crimmigration law, criminal defense, and Utah Family Law. The associate will perform mostly family based immigration and there are a few H2b clients to manage, and potential H1B clients and other employed based visa opportunities. The successful candidate can help build the employment based immigration practice. Mr. Keen the principal of the firm, former Utah AILA Chapter Chair, has written and lectured to other attorneys at AILA conferences and other state bar conferences. He has participated in several AILA national committees, and has handled appeals to the 9th and 10th circuits, including the 0th Circuit Contreras-Bocanegra v. Holder in which the en banc court invalidated the departure bar for filing motions to reopen. We handle many types of crimes including controlled substance, assault, domestic violence, theft, DUI, About 50% of the time the associate will be handling immigration court cases... including master hearings, merits hearings, 42A, 42B, AOS cases, and appeals to the BIA. About 20% of the time the associate will handle USCIS benefits cases such as adjustments, consular processing cases, 751’s, EAD’s, and naturalization. We are open to developing other areas of practice such as H2's and H1's and other employment based practices. Our firm collaborates to help our clients achieve their goals. We leverage technology to efficiently manage our matters. A successful candidate will not be above scanning, printing, and putting together forms, as well as doing complex legal analysis.
