Baker Botts, a full-service, leading international law firm recognized for our understanding of the industries we serve, is seeking a Recruiting Manager to support our Houston office. This is a full-time, exempt position which will reside in the Houston office. This position is responsible for leading the office in the recruitment process for law students to our Houston, Texas office with a focus on our exciting and robust summer program and extensive on-campus interviewing for our large summer associate classes. From time to time, the position will also include lateral partner and associate recruitment for the office. The Recruiting Manager will have a close working relationship with the Firmwide Partner in Charge-Recruiting, Office Hiring Partner, and Office Partner-in-Charge and will work with other Recruiting Staff across all of our domestic offices. In addition to a highly competitive compensation package, the firm is willing to offer a generous relocation package, if necessary, to the successful candidate.
With the Office Hiring Partner, leading the law school recruitment process for the Houston office, including leadership and regular innovation of the summer program.
In coordination with the other domestic offices, leading the Firm in certain on-campus interviewing visits and supporting other visits. This may require the ability to transport various stacks of folders and packets to recruiting events without the assistance of others.
Engaging, encouraging, and energizing our local lawyers in the vital process of recruiting.
Raising the Firm profile in recruiting and development at the city and law school level.
Managing the onboarding process for new lawyers arriving in the office from law school and from judicial clerkships.
Organizing the local office response to the recruitment and onboarding of lateral partner and associate candidates.
Assisting the local office administration in proper exit of lawyers leaving the firm, including exit interviews and reporting of such interviews.
Coordinating and preparing the agenda for local office Employment Committee meetings.
Assists with local implementation of Firmwide programs and initiatives.
Approving all recruiting related expenses and planning and managing the local Recruiting budget.
Tracks and maintains accurate recruiting data and metrics and prepares reports and analysis as needed for internal and external purposes.
Ensures accuracy of recruitment and interview process data and assists with Affirmative Action Plan compliance and reporting.
Assists in preparation of descriptive materials relating to the departmental programs and initiatives, including the Firm’s website.
Supervising, managing, training and development of local office Recruiting staff.
Other essential duties/responsibilities as assigned.
Bachelor's degree required; 5+ years of related experience; prior experience in a law firm or professional services firm strongly preferred.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Products.
Strong technology skills and ability to leverage technology for maximum effectiveness.
Strong knowledge and understanding of recruiting policies and procedures; including knowledge of recruiting software and applicant tracking systems; familiarity with LawCruit and/or other recruiting systems strongly preferred.
Team-oriented self-starter with an ability to interact with all levels of personnel while projecting a strong and positive image of the Firm; effectively follows instructions from a diverse group of clients, attorneys, and staff.
Attention to detail; ability to solve problems independently; ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects under tight deadlines and within budget.
Flexibility to adjust hours to meet departmental needs and attend some evening events; a high volume of additional hours are required during the law school recruitment season and summer associate program. Work regularly requires more than a standard work week to perform the essential duties of the position.
Travel for firm meetings, campus interviews, law school outreach, and Baker Weekend.
