Position Summary: This is a full-time (academic year appointment), tenure-track faculty position for the Moscow location. This position involves supervising the College's Immigration Litigation and Appellate Clinic and teaching a course on immigration law, and may include serving as part of the Trial Advocacy team. The clinic is devoted to providing legal services in various immigration matters and engaging in outreach activities to the surrounding communities. The faculty member will be involved in providing direct legal services to clients and will supervise up to eight law students per semester who represent those clients, and will also be responsible for running the seminar or classroom component associated with the clinic. The faculty member will also be responsible for developing mentoring relationships with students, advising students on curricular and co-curricular activities, and developing a scholarly, outreach, and engagement agenda that will enrich the scholarly community. The faculty member will represent the law school through attendance at scholarly and clinical teaching conferences, as well as through publication in national and/or international scholarly journals, which may include interdisciplinary placements.
Candidates must (1) have a J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school or the equivalent with a distinguished academic record; (2) have at least five years of post-J.D. practice or full-time teaching experience, including at least two years of practice experience exclusively or primarily in immigration law; (3) be a member of a bar in good standing, eligible for admission to the Idaho Bar as a supervising attorney, and eligible to practice law in the federal courts and before administrative agencies in the area of immigration law; (4) have a record or the promise of teaching excellence; and (5) have a record or the promise of scholarly productivity.
Preferred qualifications for this position are: (1) more than two years of post-J.D. practice or full-time teaching experience exclusively or primarily in the area of immigration law; and (2) demonstrated ability to be a team player.
