Greenberg Traurig, a global law firm, currently has an excellent full-time employment opportunity for a Senior Instructional Designer to join the Professional Development Department of our Doral (Miami), Chicago or New York office. The Senior Instructional Designer will determine and assess learning needs with various stakeholders, design, develop, implement and revise learning resources, courses, eLearning, and videos for firm employees. There will be occasional opportunities to co-facilitate and offer train-the-trainer sessions. This position resides within the Professional Development department supporting technical, professional development, leadership and CLE (Continuing Legal Education) programs.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Consult with various stakeholders such as senior staff, subject matter experts and team members to identify and define gaps and/or areas of enhancement to maximize performance. Leverage needs analysis techniques (e.g., task analysis, interviews, focus groups, etc.) and determine appropriate instructional adult learning strategies to meet organization objectives.
Design and create storyboards for the development of learning resources. Critical outputs include: instructor guides, participant guides, quick reference cards, videos, presentation scripts, checklists, tests, evaluation forms, written role plays/exercises, video demonstrations, simulations and games. These resources will be designed for classroom, virtual and OnDemand delivery and should be engaging and compelling to ensure knowledge transfer and retention occurs.
Design and include knowledge checks to measure retention of learning objectives.
Pilot courses and materials when appropriate to ensure necessary changes and revisions are made prior to firm-wide implementation.
Design to drive business goals and metrics through high quality learning design.
Collect, consolidate, evaluate and prioritize feedback on existing learning resources for continuous process and quality improvement.
Support trainers in delivery of learning material. Attend courses to provide ideas on how to engage learners during webcasts. Conduct train-the-trainer sessions as needed.
Stay abreast of new training technologies, products, and statutory changes and advise management of appropriate responses.
Partner with outside resources to supplement learning opportunities as needed.
Mentor team members, trainers and internal clients on best practices in instructional design and the use of standard templates for the production of course and learning resources.
Ensure that final documents distributed by the Professional Development Department are proofread and in the approved format(s).
Create course titles, descriptions and load relevant course materials within the Learning Management System and virtual training platform.
Support the team’s Training Administrator with Learning Management System related issues and questions.
Prepare reports, perform administrative and other assigned duties as required.

Excellent presentation skills to engage diverse audiences in both live and virtual environments a plus.
Qualifications & Prior Experience:
Master's Degree in instructional design, education, or related field preferred.
5-7 years of experience as an Instructional Designer/Developer in a corporate or consulting environment.
Experience designing CLE (Continuing Legal Education) courses in a law firm preferred.
Experience within the professional services industry with resultant knowledge of organizational behavior, adult learning principles, learning and development techniques.
Experience with authoring tools such as Captivate, Camtasia, Articulate, etc.
Video creation and web design experience a plus.
Previous legal industry experience a plus.
