Marathon Petroleum Corporation is seeking a highly motivated FCPA/compliance attorney to lead the implementation of enhancements to and provide ongoing support for its anti-corruption compliance program. This position will be located in San Antonio, Texas and report directly to the Vice President, Chief Securities, Governance & Compliance Officer and Corporate Secretary, but will work collaboratively across the enterprise with other attorneys and internal business partners. Lead the implementation of enhancements to MPC’s anti-corruption compliance program
Partner with MPC’s Office of Business Integrity and Compliance to develop and conduct anti-corruption compliance training
Counsel and coordinate on third-party due diligence and assist with anti-corruption audit program strategy
Provide day-to-day counsel to business units operating in and supporting foreign operations as respects corporate law and compliance matters
Provide day-to-day counsel on foreign corporate and subsidiary matters, including the establishment and administration of non-U.S. entities
Advise on international joint ventures
Respond to inquiries from internal and external business partners and provide guidance on compliance-related queries from employees
Serve as MPC’s response team lead for anti-corruption matters that may arise in the field
3-5 years of attorney-level relevant experience
Admitted to the bar and in good standing or otherwise authorized to practice law in the United States
Fluent in Spanish and English
Direct knowledge and experience with various anti-corruption legal frameworks, including the FCPA
Excellent program/project management skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
A willingness to travel internationally
Strong team orientation
An understanding of international business practices
Experience working on corporate and securities laws matters generally
An understanding of corporate finance
Experience building compliance programs and providing relevant training
Track record of effectively partnering with legal counsel and other cross-functional teams (e.g., business, operations, finance, etc.)
High level problem solving, reasoning, analytical and persuasive skills
