Position Summary: Founded in 1947 CEB is one of California's oldest and most prestigious legal information and continuing legal education providers. CEB publishes judgments of California case law, practical guidance for attorneys and, CLE all in a variety of practice areas and formats e.g. print, online and, in-person.
As Product Manager, Primary Law & Secondary Sources, you will drive the vision, product strategy, and execution for CEB's core digital legal research products that serve the California legal community. CEB is an award-winning provider of California-focused practice guides, and other secondary source content. Our staff content development attorneys work with recognized experts throughout the state to create, publish and deliver digital access to more than 120 regularly updated practice guides in substantive areas including business law, civil litigation and torts, criminal law, employment law & workers' compensation, trusts and estates, family law, and real property.
You will collaborate with a cross-functional team, including staff content-development attorneys, marketing, sales and development to execute on a roadmap that is a balanced portfolio of big bets, tactical changes, and core refinements on the product & feature portfolio for CEB's new primary law and secondary source products. Your market and customer research, through direct interaction with practicing attorneys across the state, especially those who are solo practitioners or working at small firms, will inform how we can grow and improve our products and share of market.

Collaborate with a cross-functional team of CEB leadership, product management, engineering (internal & development partners and contractors), marketing, sales, content development and finance to drive the building and iterating on successful products and features from idea through delivery to customers.
Own the backlog for the products and/or features for which you're responsible, including writing user stories and acceptance criteria.
Be the voice of the customer: deeply understand the California legal community, especially attorneys, by conducting market research & customer interviews.
Create strategies for how to address identified legal research, content, and workflow problems in innovative ways by understanding what's valuable, usable and feasible using a lean product development methodology.
Report on status and performance against established roadmap KPIs.
Responsible for the creation and ongoing performance of a particular product line including, but not limited to Learning, Primary Law, Secondary Law, Forms, or Know-How.
Job Requirements 4 year degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Minimum 3 years as a product manager in a technology company or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience with either e-commerce or content/search-based products, preferably in a legal solutions environment
Experience in a fully agile development environment, preferably one with distributed team members in a matrixed environment
Experience owning product and/or feature development from idea to launch on a new or early-stage product
Proven skills in strategic thinking, planning and execution
Ability to challenge conventional thinking to deliver innovative recommendations
Excellent project management skills including the development of technology-based products and services
Excellent communication skills and experience managing input from a wide variety of stakeholders
Empathy for user problems, and an ability to distill insights into the right product answer
Strong analytical ability, including making data-validated, hypothesis-driven, experiment-tested decisions Required
J.D., Paralegal, or MLIS with law library experience or equivalent combination of education and experience Preferred
