The Office of the General Counsel ('OGC') is the in-house legal office for Boston University. It has responsibility for all legal matters affecting the University. OGC strives to provide all parts of the University with timely and high-quality legal advice and representation, supporting the mission of the University and assisting clients in achieving their goals. The Administrative Coordinator is critical to OGC's ability to serve its clients. This individual will work with and perform administrative, clerical and occasional paralegal work for five attorneys in the office. Duties include managing attorney calendars, submitting expense/travel reports, preparing and revising documents, and the administration of electronic and paper files. The Administrative Coordinator will participate in and be exposed to the full range of activities associated with the practice of law in an in-house setting, which may prove useful to candidates considering law school. This position is eligible for the generous tuition remission at Boston University. Applicant must include a cover letter to be considered.
B.A./B.S. required. Requires at least one year of administrative or equivalent experience. The successful candidate will have a strong work ethic, the ability to learn new skills, and have excellent judgement. The candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail, have exceptional communication skills (both oral and written), and be able to multitask while managing competing deadlines. Time management and organizational skills are a must as well as the ability to take initiative and follow up on open tasks in a timely manner. This individual should be proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and have the ability to learn new technologies quickly. Experience with WordPress and Concur a plus. Candidate will be required to submit an application to become a Massachusetts notary within the first month of hire.
