King & Spalding has created a new position to work as part of an innovative and growing team that leads the firm’s lawyer talent development initiatives globally. The Senior Coordinator of Lawyer Talent Development will work primarily with the Director of Lawyer Talent Development and the three Associate Directors of Lawyer Talent Development on firm-wide and practice group talent initiatives including formal training, onboarding/integration, compensation, and evaluation/promotion. The Senior Coordinator will be part of the firm’s Professional Development and Recruiting Department, and will work collaboratively with lawyers and staff across the firm.
This position can be based in any U.S. King & Spalding office, with preference given to Atlanta, New York City, and Washington, D.C.
Support development and execution of formal training at the firmwide and practice group levels, including working with Director/Associate Directors and lawyers on course design, logistics (e.g., scheduling, room reservations, catering, and technical needs), and continuous improvement (e.g., ways to increase attendance)
Assist with onboarding and integration programs
Support Develop K&S, the firm’s innovative career development advising program that pairs associates with more senior lawyers and provides frequent feedback to supplement the annual progression reviews
Advance our alumni programs and resources (including events and alumni communications)
Improve design and maintenance of materials such as course catalogs, intranet content and communications related to talent initiatives
Support the central design and execution of the compensation and evaluation processes for lawyers
Help manage professional development resource use by associates and other lawyers, including tracking approvals and budgets and communicating about resources
Source and analyze data as needed for department operations, including department budget tracking, utilization data, attrition data, and other data needed for projects

Excellent collaboration, facilitation, influencing, and organizational skills, with the ability to work proactively to obtain information and develop the consensus needed to make decisions
Knowledge of CLE rules as they affect accreditation for firm programs (or ability to quickly gain the knowledge).
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution
At least 2 years of experience in a talent development/recruiting role in a law firm or other professional services environment, although candidates with similar experience from other industries will be considered.
Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills with lawyers, all levels of administrative staff, and contacts outside the firm
Strong project management abilities; able to prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously without frequent prompting and while maintaining poise under pressure
Strong judgment and ability to respect, protect, and maintain highly confidential and sensitive information
Strong attention to detail combined with ability to develop big-picture goals
