Role Description: The APAC Markets Legal team is seeking a legal professional to support the APAC Markets business, with a primary focus on structured financial products in the form of notes, warrants and certificates linked to multiple asset classes (for example, shares, equity indices, ETFs, mutual funds, local currency bonds, consumer price or other inflation indices, interest rates or constant maturity swap rates or any other rates including any combination thereof). The role requires the legal professional to work in a dynamic team environment to primarily provide day-to-day transactional support for the issuance of listed and unlisted structured products under the various global and APAC structured note, listed warrants and repackaging programmes, including drafting and negotiating term sheets, pricing supplements and programme level documentation including but not limited to our distribution businesses in Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand as well as upcoming new markets in the region. The successful candidate will also be required to work on new business initiatives (including development of new programmes and automation of programme documents) and advise on regulatory issues and developments impacting the third party distribution business across APAC. This role also requires the lawyer to be able to proactively spot issues related to the business and particular transactions, provide commercially pragmatic advice to the business and work well both within the Markets & Regulatory Legal team and with other functions such as Compliance, Operations, Risk and Tax.
A qualified solicitor from a common law jurisdiction with approximately 1 - 4 years PQE and relevant experience in supporting derivatives businesses preferred
Excellent written and spoken Cantonese/Chinese language skills preferred
Strong drafting, negotiation and legal analytical skills with strong attention to detail
Strong commercial focus with a solution-driven approach, and the ability to apply and analyse the implications of regulatory changes to a business environment
Outstanding technical legal and communication skills, including the ability to present clear and concise legal advice to the highest standard, and conduct trainings/workshops
Ability to manage competing priorities, project-manage and co-ordinate large projects, in a dynamic global environment
Ability to apply technical product knowledge and experience to complex and innovative transactions and products
Team player, confident and proactive with strong interpersonal skills.
Attorneys must be licensed to practice law and a member in good standing or otherwise eligible to practice law in the jurisdiction in which the position is based.
