Position Overview: Thompson & Knight LLP is seeking a Talent Development Manager who will serve as a key member of the Talent Management team and, who working closely with the Chief Talent Officer and Lawyer Development Chair, will develop, manage, and deliver attorney training and other development programs that support the professional growth and career success of attorneys across the Firm. The essential functions and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Collaborates in the creation, planning, and delivery of Firm-wide and practice-specific training programs.
Works with internal presenters on the development, design and format of practice group and professional skills training programs.
Works with Practice Managers and other key members of the Firm to identify external speakers and presenters for training programs.
Collaborates with other key firm members to revise and maintain effective lateral attorney integration and retention programs.
Supports Summer Associate training programs, including Trial Academy and Negotiations Workshop.
Manages outside Training Opportunities and coaching programs for Firm lawyers.
Manages and oversees the Firm’s eLearning programs.
Contributes to wellness program.
Maintains networks and stays abreast of trends in the talent development field both within and outside the legal industry.
Works with Practice Managers to identify, track and manage Pro Bono opportunities.
Administers orientation program, new Attorney Training and practice boot camps.
Identifies monthly PLI programs for attorneys.
Assists in developing strategies to facilitate a culture of real-time feedback, assessing trends in this area.
Works with Chief Talent Officer, Chief Diversity Officer and Chair of Women’s Initiative Committee to implement specific initiatives related to diversity training.
Other projects as assigned by Chief Talent Officer.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required. 6+ years in a law firm or professional services industry required. Must have experience and knowledge of attorney professional development, including program design and attorney career progression.
Highly organized, innovative, and results-oriented. Strong written and oral communication skills, effective listening skills and proven experience at diplomacy and building strong, collaborative relationships with attorneys and staff at all levels. Excellent project management and organizational skills. Strong attention to detail and the ability to work well both independently and in a team settings. Highly motivated, proactive self-starter that demonstrates ownership, commitment to the job, initiative, and strong work ethic. Ability to multi-task and deal with stringent deadlines. Ability to exercise excellent judgment and discretion as to confidential and sensitive matters. Ability to deal effectively with change in fast-paced and changing environments. Ability to travel to other offices as needed. Requires regular and predictable attendance during the assigned work schedule.
