The Ohio Credit Union League is currently seeking a Regulatory Counsel to play a critical role in the growth and success of a dynamic trade association. The Regulatory Counsel will support the League’s long-term advocacy vision to strengthen the state and federal credit union charter by monitoring regulatory activity and architecting strategies that influence positive outcomes for Ohio credit unions. This individual will also proactively capture and manage legal activity impacting credit union operations, secure and manage outside legal counsel when appropriate, and assist with special projects crucial to organizational success.

What you will do:
Research, monitor, and activate regulatory engagement strategies that influence positive industry outcomes
Effectively communicate impactful regulatory activity and serve as an expert reference on relevant state and federal laws and rules
Architect and manage League comment letters and coordinate industry responses
Proactively capture legal activity impacting credit unions and deploy communications that provide guidance and insight
Secure and manage outside counsel, when appropriate, to aggressively protect the credit union business model
Develop and execute legal advocacy strategies that influence and nurture strategic partnerships with credit union legal talent
Manage or assist with special projects aligned with the League’s strategic priorities.
Contribute to the research and development of product solutions that drive revenue and membership engagement
Education and experience you need:
Law degree required
Ohio bar admission required
Minimum of 2-4 years of regulatory affairs or comparable experience
Knowledge of state and federal regulatory processes preferred
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and/or in writing, to a variety of audiences
Strong research skills and commitment to engaging association committees, members, and decisionmakers
Proven ability to initiative and work with minimal supervision
Demonstrated ability to work calmly and maintain good judgment as well as the ability to escalate appropriately
Capacity to handle multiple competing priorities including ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Detail-oriented team player who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment
