The City Attorney is under the general administrative direction of the City Manager, provides professional legal services and advice for the City of Medford, Medford Urban Renewal Agency, Mayor, City Council, City Manager, City departments, and other committees, boards and commissions; prepares and reviews legal documents and legal opinions, and represents the City in civil proceedings; oversees Department operations, budget and staff. **Please attach a resume and cover letter at the time you submit your application in order to be considered.

The salary range for this position is $109,729-$140,045. Salary placement is dependent upon experience, qualifications and in adherence with pay equity.

Ten years of legal experience with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in a municipal or governmental law environment preferred, including leadership and management experience to perform the job effectively; and experience in supervision, evaluation and assigning work to staff. Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Juris Doctorate.

The City Attorney’s office protects the City’s interests by providing quality legal counsel and advice to the Mayor,
City Council, the City Manager, city departments, and various city boards and commissions. The office is responsible
for: preparing ordinances and resolutions for Council action; maintaining the Medford Municipal Code; representing
the City in civil litigation and administrative actions; and prosecuting traffic and code offenses in Medford Municipal
Court. Risk Management is also under the City Attorney’s office. This work of the legal department is accomplished
with a staff of six people. In addition to the City Attorney, there is one Deputy City Attorney, two Senior Assistant
Attorneys, one Risk Manager and one Legal Secretary.
