Transamerica is seeking an attorney with a minimum of 10 years of experience supporting a business unit’s legal team as it relates to efforts in strategy, compliance, and enterprise policy. This person will be a critical member of our Workplace Solutions Leadership Team. What You Will Do: Reporting to the Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of Transamerica, the Workplace Division General Counsel is the head of legal services for our Workplace Solutions Division, one of our two business divisions. The Workplace Solutions General Counsel must be an expert in the fields of law necessary for the business, including retirement plan advice and administration and voluntary employee benefits. This person will be a strategic partner to the Division leadership team and participate on key division risk committees; partner with the head of Compliance for the Workplace Solutions Division and collaboratively oversee the legal and compliance professionals supporting the Division; support policy, training, marketing, product development, sales practices, and other functions within the Division; and oversee the Workplace Solutions Division legal budget. The Workplace Division General Counsel will also be a key member of the Law & Compliance Department leadership team and will be called upon to contribute to enterprise matters as well as matters specific to the Workplace Solutions Division.

What Success Looks Like:
Responsible for the strategy and execution of a Law Department practice group.
Participates in the most complex legal or compliance projects.
Sets strategy from which policies and procedures are developed.
Establishes legal competencies and provides training and mentoring.
Develops and interprets department and enterprise policies.
Works with senior management across the enterprise.
Coordinates and supervises a group of lawyers, including senior level attorneys.
May lead planning, strategy, structure and negotiation of acquisitions.

What You Need:
JD degree required.
State bar admission.
Minimum of 10 years’ experience
Frequent demand to establish priorities and meet tight deadlines.
Ability to provide quality legal services based on experience in a timely manner.
Location in Denver strongly preferred; 10-15%+ U.S. travel involved.
