The incumbent is responsible for ensuring compliance with Federal, State and Local Safety and Health Laws as well as any and all Environmental Laws. The incumbent is responsible for directing all facility safety programs.
The incumbent interfaces with all levels of the organization. Outside contact includes local disaster officials, workers compensation representatives (i.e.: The WC Court, Attorneys, etc.), Division and Corporate personnel and local vendors.
The primary challenge of this position is to reduce accidents within the facility to or below the budgeted goals and to ensure compliance with all Safety, Health and Environmental Regulations. The incumbent will be given assignments with the intent that he/she will address the full scope of the assignment with little or no supervision.
This position is responsible for communicating the Health and Safety requirements to all employees. This position is also responsible for eliminating and correcting actions that cause any physical hazards reported and to ensure that all affected employees receive required orientation and/or training. Conduct and coordinate plant HSE training including CC Trainer. Assist with compliance of HSE management system policy and procedures and applicable regulations. Collecting, verifying accuracy, and communication of Safety Observation Program. Assist with developing, revising and maintaining procedures, datasheets, and shop postings. Assist with accident investigations to determine root cause and preventative actions. Coordinate and schedule safety inspections and correction of inspection findings. Coordinate HSE monitoring and industrial hygiene services. Maintain environmental permits and assist in preparing required EPA reporting documents. Coordinate risk assessments and JHAaEUR(tm)s. Communicate with vendors including but not limited to paying invoices and requesting required HSE data (ex. MSDS, paint purchases). Other HSE duties as deemed necessary.
