Counsel, Regulatory Affairs
OVERVIEW COUNSEL, REGULATORY AFFAIRS - US MARKETS Mastercard's Global Regulatory team is responsible for liaising with key regulators and law enforcement officials for the purpose of preventing or minimizing the impact of adverse regulations on the company's profitability and growth potential. The Counsel, Regulatory Affairs -- US Markets, will be based in Purchase and will report to the Senior Managing Counsel, Regulatory Affairs, US, and will be part of the Global Regulatory team from a functional perspective and the North America Markets team from a regional perspective.
ROLE The Counsel, Regulatory Affairs -- US Markets will assist in managing various regulatory matters arising in the United States. They will:
Liaise and develop relationships with federal and state regulatory agencies and engage with key law enforcement agencies;
Advise on regulatory topics such as Regulation E, Regulation Z, and Durbin;
Be an important point of contact for the US Markets business and counsel teams and provide legal advice on complex regulatory matters arising in the US;
Assist in the development and execution of the regulatory strategy for the US;
Participate in multi-dimensional projects across business units/regions, successfully navigating throughout the organization to partner effectively with individuals from other departments;
Work in close collaboration with the Public Policy and US Markets counsel teams; and
Assist as part of a team in responses to regulatory actions and inquiries in the US.
ALL ABOUT YOU
JD from an established and reputable law school;
Experience in a regulatory position in a corporation, association or government context and/or as a regulatory attorney in a law firm advising on payments, banking or financial services;
Knowledge of financial services regulation is required;
Excellent written and oral communication skills;
Success in navigating and building relationships within a global multi-cultural organization; and
Must demonstrate a proactive, time sensitive, results driven approach in carrying out all duties, obligations, and responsibilities.
