The Professional Development Manager will work alongside the firm’s Director of Professional Development and other Managers on the PD and Learning and Development teams to develop and implement innovative programs to onboard, train, mentor, develop, engage, and retain the firm’s attorneys with a focus on associates and professional development initiatives. This position is a firmwide role with a focus on GT offices in Florida and will be based in GT’s Miami office.
Duties & Responsibilities:
PD Managers will be assigned firmwide projects to lead or to contribute to. Examples of those projects are Associate Retreats, Associate Review Process, Firmwide First Year Associate Orientation and the Mentor program. The Director of PD will assign those projects as they arise.
Regional and Global Practice Group Responsibilities
PD Managers will manage and lead firmwide projects, regional/office responsibilities and global practice group responsibilities. Those responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
The PD Manager will support all Florida offices (Miami, Boca Raton, Ft. Lauderdale, Orlando, Tallahassee, Tampa, and West Palm Beach) and manage and oversee the associates in those offices. The following are the responsibilities:
Develop a deep understanding of each office and of the Florida region.
Meet, build relationships and communicate with Managing Shareholders and Career Development Liasions (CDLs) on a regular basis in each office
Clarify CDL role and expectations and assist with programming and mentor matches as appropriate
Understand the associate population in Miami and in the other Florida offices. Oversee the engagement of associates in each Florida office.
Orient and onboard all new associates
Welcome all new shareholders to the office/region and provide PD department highlights
Provide integration opportunities for new associates including introductions to others
Meet, build relationships, communicate, and collaborate with BDs, HR Managers and Marketing staff
Implement the revised mentor program and ensure all associates in your office/region have mentors
Travel to the offices on a regular basis or as programming warrants
Provide programming and/or CLE programs in each office
Reinforce or advertise webinar programming to associates and encourage attendance
Assist with utilization of associates
Implement firmwide programs on a local level
Assist with the associate evaluation process and associate business development plans
Communicate to associates and offer to meet with them to develop the business development plan
Track and provide reports on regions PD efforts and training metrics to key leadership and management
Global Practice Group Training and Programming
Meet with Global Practice Group Heads (PGH) at the beginning of each year to plan professional development programs for the year
Work with the shareholders in charge of practice group training to develop training programs and identify effective teaching methods
Oversee course catalogs, resources and competencies related to the practice group
Evaluate programming and recommend content and process improvements
Track and provide reports on Practice Group PD efforts and training metrics to Global PGH

Ability to travel to multiple firm office locations as necessary
Qualifications & Prior Experience:
A Juris Doctorate degree required as well as strong project management skills. A background practicing law at a large law preferred.
A minimum of 5 years of attorney professional development experience. Significant experience in a large law firm is also preferred.
2 years of supervisory experience desired
Demonstrated success establishing, developing, and managing robust career development functions in a national or international, multi-office environment
Familiarity with learning management systems, adult learning techniques and online learning technologies a plus
