Montefiore Medical Center is a busy major academic institution serving a diverse urban and suburban population and is the primary teaching hospital for the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Montefiore Medical Center is in the Bronx, a short drive or public transit commute from Manhattan and easily accessible from Westchester County, Long Island and northern New Jersey.
Perform all risk management and associated legal activities related to medical liability and risk prevention at the Medical Center which include: coordination of litigation; designating counsel, oversee outside counsel, review and respond to litigation status reporting from outside counsel; evaluate and provide advice on litigation strategy for individual claims; assist with and make recommendations for the development of global litigation strategies, insurance claims and coverage, staff educational programs; conduct oversight of defense counsel, investigations of claims against the facility, interfacing with defense and in house counsel; developing and implementing a program that measures the effectiveness of the risk management program; consulting with clinical teams and departments in educating, developing and implementing risk management strategies; developing and implementing a mechanism to provide regular reporting that measures the risk management's program effectiveness; managing the risk management department on a day-to day basis in the absence of the department Director, Assistant Director or Vice President, interfacing and collaborating with quality and patient safety departments to identify safety issues associated with professional liability claims and adverse events with the objectives of driving improvement in overall safety and controlling and minimizing the institution's financial loss due to claims against it.
Attorney or Risk Manager with certification with 5-10 years claims and hospital risk management experience. Licensed to practice law in New York State.
