Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP, an AM Law 100 firm, is seeking a Pro Bono Administrator based in the New York office.
The Pro Bono Administrator is a full-time position reporting to the TM/HR Director and Chief and the Pro Bono Partner. This individual is responsible for the day to day administration of the pro bono program across all offices and the integration of pro bono and associate development.
Responsible for management of Pro Bono Program including the following:
Identify and act as a liaison to legal service organizations to foster relationships and identify pro bono opportunities.
Prepare emails describing pro bono opportunities for internal distribution.
Work with firm attorneys to monitor and increase engagement and participation.
Assist with the intake of new matters.
Report on the status of pro bono matters and collect success stories.
Make presentations at firm meetings.
Work with the Professional Development Manager to provide developmental opportunities to associates through pro bono projects.
Address potential conflicts consistent with the firm objectives and policy.
Prepare and send communications to clients and referral sources.
Coordinate, attend and present data at Pro Bono Committee Meetings.
Prepare quarterly reports of newly opened pro bono cases.
Review and prepare pro bono budget.
Monitor pro bono expenses.
Prepare various internal and external publications relating to the Firm’s pro bono program.
Prepare orientation materials for entry and lateral attorneys.
Prepare and respond to surveys from various clients, organizations, publications, among other requests.
Coordinate and/or attend various pro bono events, luncheons and presentations.
Create materials for internal and external marketing.
Coordinate pro bono partnerships with firm clients.
Bachelor’s Degree or Commensurate Experience
Minimum 10 Years of Law Firm Experience
Experience coordinating work at a law firm or organization.
Talent management and matter intake experience a plus.
Strong understanding of pro bono and the justice gap.
Ability to effectively communicate and work collaboratively with all levels of firm personnel, legal service organizations, clients, and others.
Highly organized with the ability to pay close attention to detail.
Strong writing and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and demonstrate good judgment.
Computer and tech savvy to assist with presentations and publications.
