I) Job Purpose Under the supervision of the Forensic Program Director and the Agency Medical Director, this position is to provide psychiatric treatment including, but not limited to: psychiatric evaluations, medication maintenance, and crisis intervention to their clients.? This position will receive day to day administrative supervision by the Program Manager of this location and will receive clinical assistance and supervision from the Medical Director of the organization.
II) Essential Functions? A. Evaluate clients and complete all applicable assessments which are required according to State Standards, and which are deemed appropriate by the Medical Director.? ?? Performance Requirement(s):
As a minimum, will complete the Psychiatric Evaluation.
Will update the individual’s diagnosis each time it is evident that a diagnosis is incorrect.? This will be a constant part of the patient evaluation.
Will ensure that the AIMS testing is completed on all individuals who receive anti-psychotic medication.
Will order lab studies as recommended by MHMR of Tarrant County prescribing guidelines.
B. Provide medication maintenance to those individuals assigned to the physician’s caseload. Performance Requirement(s):
Will provide medication reviews and monitor those individuals associated with this site.? These reviews will occur according to each patient’s individual needs.
Will order and monitor appropriate lab work for each individual who requires it, according to the individual’s needs.? Will review lab results prior to the next appointment with the patient.
C. Complete all required documentation necessary to ensure compliance with MHMR Tarrant and organizational standards 100% of the time. Performance Requirement(s):
Complete a Progress Note for each appointment with individuals serviced to ensure it contains the following information:
Date, start time, and total time
Response of individual to intervention
The provider log and all notes will be completed within the same day of the actual services being provided, prior to the end of shift.
D. Supervise and Complete Special Placement Cell (SPC Rounds) Performance Requirement(s):
Participate in Interdepartmental Rounds on SPC areas, as needed.
Complete a weekly round on those people being maintained SPC.
Face to face visit with all individuals placed on SPC for mental health issues.
Coordination with Other Forensic Staff as necessary for treatment.
Documentation of all face to face interactions during rounds/visits or ensure that documentation is completed by a medical or clinical staff person who is also present on the rounds/visits.
See new individuals once a week that are being maintained SPC.
Provide same day assessment to individuals who are engaging in self harm or other emergent behavior in the SPC area.
E. Special Management Areas Coverage
Will see emergent issues and help coordinate care.
Attend the Weekly Inter-Departmental meeting on Wednesdays, as needed.
Attend the Therapist meeting.
F. APRN Supervision
Provide supervision to mid-level staff in accordance with State Standards, as needed.
G. Languishing/ Incompetency Areas
Coordinate Certified Medical Exams.
Coordinate Forced Medications.
Coordinate monthly meeting with the Judicial Staff Counsel/Mental Health Magistrate, as needed.
H. Complete all required training in a timely manner. Performance Requirement(s):
Complete and update all organizations and departmental training as required by the organization.
Participate in continuing medical education, particularly those activities that enhance knowledge and skills of dealing with this population.
Attend scheduled Team Meetings with other members of the Treatment Team.? Attend scheduled physician meetings with the Agency Medical Director.
Provide clinical training to the other personnel as requested by the Director.

III) Knowledge of Laws, Regulations, Policies/Procedures, Skills, and Abilities
Intimate knowledge of current psycho-pharmacological treatment for mental disorders.
Ability to work with multidisciplinary staff.
Familiarity with chronic mental health treatment populations and current treatment/care trends.
Knowledge of current trends in alcohol and drug treatment.
Ability to work one evening per week.
Willingness to comply with agency guidelines for prescribing psychoactive drugs.
Maintain Kronos Payroll System daily and approve timecard at end of pay period.

IV) Internal & External Customer Service This position requires correspondence and contact by telephone with persons within the agency and?outside the agency such as John Peter Smith Hospital, Trinity Springs Pavilion, Social Security?Administration, Texas Rehab Commission, Public Health Department, Family Services, and attorneys.

Required Experience One (1) Year
Defined Experience Experience in any other medical facility/field. Board Certified with up to 3 years post Board Certified Resident experience in MH field
License Board Certified/Licensed to practice medicine in the state of Texas; Valid Texas driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
