Troutman Pepper, a leading national law firm, has an exciting opportunity for a Publications Manager. The Publications Manager reports to the Director of Client Proposals and Publications and partners with attorneys and the marketing department to ensure the successful production and distribution of client-facing publications. This position can be based in any of our 23 offices across the U.S.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Overseeing the publication editing and production process from start to finish, working directly with business development professionals to develop and track article topics, with attorney authors on edits, and with the digital marketing and communications teams to ensure the timely production and distribution of publications.
Advising attorneys on best practices for client-centric, reader-friendly publications, including developing content templates and presenting at practice group meetings.
Editing firm client alerts, advisories, newsletters, blog posts and other publications to conform with firm style, and for grammar and factual accuracy.
Working with the digital marketing and communications teams to analyze content engagement metrics and to share actionable data with Business Development professionals and practice groups to drive content production.
Working with the PR and business development teams to repurpose and extend the reach of publications, including identifying opportunities for republication of firm content by external sources and use of content in webinars and podcasts.
Assisting the digital marketing team with quality control checks for publication emails sent to clients and contacts.
Maintaining an editorial calendar and advising attorneys and marketing and business development professionals regarding optimal times for publication releases.
The Publications Manager also may be called upon to assist with other marketing and business development materials and other writing and editing projects.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
Five years of professional writing/editing and publications management experience in a large law firm environment.
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in English, journalism, communications or a similar field of study.
Excellent command of grammar, and ability to edit jargon-laden “legalese” into crisp, clear prose that is understandable to a non-lawyer audience.
Solid proofreading skills and a keen eye for detail.
Ability to work under tight timelines and quickly edit and oversee production of a large volume of client-facing publications.
Good time management skills and ability to prioritize competing demands and urgent requests.
Good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with professionals at all levels of the firm.
