Position Locations: Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, or West Palm Beach
The Professional Development Manager will work alongside the firm’s Director of Professional Development and other Managers on the PD and Learning and Development teams to develop and implement innovative programs to onboard, train, mentor, develop, engage, and retain the firm’s attorneys with a focus on associates and professional development initiatives. This position is a firmwide role with a focus on the Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, Tallahassee, Tampa, and West Palm Beach (Florida) offices and will be based in one of GT’s Florida offices.
Duties & Responsibilities:
PD Managers are assigned firmwide projects to lead or to contribute to. Examples of those projects are Associate Retreats, Associate Review Process, Firmwide First Year Associate Orientation and the Mentor program. The Director of PD will assign those projects as they arise.
Regional and Global Practice Group Responsibilities
The PD Manager manages and leads firmwide projects, office responsibilities and global practice group responsibilities.
The PD Manager supports the Florida offices and manages and oversees the associates in those offices. The responsibilities include:
Develops a deep understanding of the culture of each office
Meets with, builds relationships and communicates with Managing Shareholders and Career Development Liasions (CDLs) on a regular basis in each office
Develops local programming in partnership with the CDLs, including CLE programs
Understands the associate population and oversees the engagement of associates
Provides an orientation to the PD Department and programs and assists with integration into the office and firm
Welcomes new shareholders to the offices and provides PD department highlights
Provides integration opportunities for new associates including introductions to others
Meets with, builds relationships, communicates, and collaborates with BDs, HR Managers and Marketing staff
Implements the revised mentor program and ensures all associates in the region have mentors
When it becomes safe and appropriate, travel to the offices on a regular basis or as programming warrants
Reinforces or advertises webinar programming to associates and encourage attendance
Provides processes to assist with utilization of associates
Implements firmwide programs on a local level
Assists with the associate evaluation process and associate business development plans
Communicates to associates and offers to meet with them to develop the business development plan
Tracks and provides reports on region's PD efforts and training metrics to key leadership and management
Global Practice Group Training and Programming
Meets with Global Practice Group Heads (PGH) at the beginning of each year to plan professional development programs for the year
Works with the shareholders in charge of practice group training to develop training programs and identify effective teaching methods
Oversees course catalogs, resources and competencies related to the practice group
Evaluates programming and recommends content and process improvements
Tracks and provides reports on Practice Group PD efforts and training metrics to Global PGH

Proven ability to build trust and gain buy-in from firm leaders and other key stakeholders
Experience and comfort with facilitating programs
Post-COVID 19, ability to travel to multiple firm office locations as necessary
Qualifications & Prior Experience:
A Juris Doctorate degree required as well as strong project management skills. A background practicing law at a large law preferred
A minimum of 5 years of attorney professional development experience. Significant experience in a large law firm is also preferred
2 years of supervisory experience desired
Demonstrated success establishing, developing, and managing robust career development functions in a national or international, multi-office environment
Familiarity with learning management systems, adult learning techniques and online learning technologies a plus
