Rider University invites applications for an Associate General Counsel. This position will assist with providing legal support to the General Counsel in the daily activities of the Legal Affairs Department and to all divisions of the University for their legal needs. The position has an emphasis on contract review and advice (initial drafting, review and/or red-line of contracts) and risk management, including insurance.
Specific duties include but are not limited to:
Assisting, consulting with and advising General Counsel on University legal matters; preparation of legal documents
Prepare, review and revise contracts that involve the purchase, lease/rental or sale of goods and services. Ensure contracts are executed in accordance with legal requirements, University policies, procedures, and statutory regulations. Manage contract administration.
Collaborate on risk management processes and procedures
Review insurance related issues; interact with business managers and insurance adviser
Assist with employment law issues and compliance
Assist with Title IX and other regulatory issues and investigations
Interact with internal and external attorneys and vendors
Other projects as assignedThis position is expected to maintain confidentiality of client and University matters.
JD plus a minimum of 1-year relevant experience
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously and work independently
Appreciation of the law, commitment to the mission of education, dedication to serving internal clients
Position Preferred Qualifications/Experience:
Experience in a higher education environment; experience with contracting
Experience with IT contracts, data privacy and security
Familiarity with risk management concepts and principles
Proficient with Google Apps and all Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint)
