Chubb’s Uniondale Long Island House Counsel Firm, Cariello Law Firm, is seeking an Attorney for its Casualty Litigation Practice. Position Description: The individual must possess a demonstrated track record of successfully litigating through trial and appeal matters involving the following claims and issues; premises liability, construction accident liability, products liability, contractual indemnity, motor vehicle liability, and medical damages. The individual must possess the expertise and professional background to deliver excellent legal work and service on behalf of the firm’s clients and internal Claim Department customers. The specific casualty litigation activities to be performed by the individual will include trials, conducting and defending depositions and engaging in other pre-trial discovery, drafting pleadings, engaging in motion practice, researching, briefing and arguing appellate matters, appearing in, negotiating settlements, generating analytical reports and evaluations on assigned cases, high quality client and internal customer service, communication and collaboration. Although the position is located in Nassau, the individual must be willing to handle cases primarily in Queens, Nassau & Suffolk counties. Job Requirements: Candidate must possess a Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school and be admitted to the practice of law by the New York State bar and the U.S. District Courts in New York; Must be a member of the Bar in good standing; Must have a valid New York State Driver’s license; Must have at least 3 years of experience successfully litigating through trial and appeal a broad range of complex and high exposure casualty insurance defense matters in state and federal court in New York; Must have in depth knowledge of current state and federal procedural and substantive law; Must be able to demonstrate effective oral and written advocacy skills and negotiation tactics; Must have ability to apply analytical skill in addressing complex legal issues; Must have demonstrated successful experience in communicating strategically with the firm’s clients, Claim Department, Court personnel and members of the legal community.
