The Learning & Development Administrator – U.S. drives the operational process for delivering both substantive legal and professional skills training for all US lawyers and Business Services.
Training
Facilitates the development and implementation of training curriculum for lawyers. Works closely with each practice area (i.e. Corporate, Finance, Litigation, etc.) to develop and implement training programs
Facilitates the development and implementation of training for Business Services staff
Oversees the logistics, planning, and calendaring for US wide or regional training initiatives, including First Year Fast Track, Chicago Away Day, regional NITA programs, regional practice area boot camps, US Litigation Writing program, regional ALAS training, regional cybersecurity programs, etc.
Maintains records of all training program materials, curriculum outlines, customary internal speakers, posting of recorded programs, etc.
Drives the US Professional Development planning calls
Works closely with the US Transactional and US Litigation Training Committees, and U.S. Directors of Learning & Development; facilitates program design as needed
Tracks program/event costs against the US budget for training initiatives
Coordinates communications regarding training programs with U.S. Attorney Development and HR departments along with Brazil and Mexico; creates and distributes post program evaluations and tracks program participant review information Supports externally presented training programs as needed
Coordinates training events and facilitates attendance at off-site training programs such as national workshops, NITA or PLI
Researches and recommends outside consultants and trainers
Provides oversight on Continuing Legal Education (CLE) process and compliance for attorneys; facilitates CE Manager users call
Works closely with conference services, travel department, human resources, benefits, library services, and other administrative departments as needed for coordination of meetings/initiatives
Collaborates on new learning initiatives such as e-learning course development / delivery and enhanced methods for improved adult learning
Creates and oversees US CE Manager E-Learning Library and coordinates communications with US attorney development contacts and lawyers, including coordinating recording schedule, collecting post-production video links, uploading videos to CE Manager, and updated programs on the CE Manager E-Library list for lawyers
Attorney Development/Personnel
Facilitates lawyer onboarding and delivers onboarding presentation for new lawyers
Maintains procedures and documents for onboarding
Assists with Chicago lawyer HR matters as needed
Bachelor’s degree, required
Coursework in Adult Education or related area and/or Master’s degree or JD, preferred
Minimum of five years of experience in training or performance management
Prior experience working in a professional services setting, preferred
Prior experience with curriculum development and implementation, preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, required
Experience delivering multi-location training using multiple media and technology tools, preferred; WebEx in particular a plus
Experience with several internal software systems, including CE Manager [LMS] and PeopleSoft, preferred
Experience with e-learning program design and delivery tools and processes, preferred
Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to communicate effectively and in a professional manner with all levels of the Firm and outside vendors
Ability to work in a diverse team environment and effectively support the demanding needs of the Firm
Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines with shifting priorities
Must be a self-starter with a high level of initiative
Strong customer service skills, able to anticipate needs and exercise independent judgment
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects
Maintains confidentiality and exercises discretion
Exercises solid strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
May require occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs.
