To support our work in this area, we are currently seeking a firm-wide Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Manager who will work under the supervision and direction of the Director of Diversity & Engagement. This position can reside in the Century City, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, or Washington DC office.
In collaboration with Firm leadership, the DE&I team (including two Partners for DE&I), Talent Development, and other teams, this position will be responsible for conceiving, promoting, and implementing policies and programs that enhance O’Melveny’s culture of belonging and that support its strategic goals to foster, recruit, retain, and promote diverse attorneys and staff.
Responsibilities:
Support the execution of Firm-wide and local DE&I plans, events, and activities.
Advise and counsel on a myriad of diversity-related topics.
Speak confidently with clients about O’Melveny’s DE&I efforts.
Provide thought leadership on DE&I trends, innovation, best practices, and emerging issues and solutions. Establish, nurture, and manage relationships with peers, DE&I organizations, consultants, vendors and others who offer access to knowledge and opportunities that will help O’Melveny grow and progress.
Develop relationships with key internal stakeholders and with our diverse attorneys and staff to identify priorities and challenges for the DE&I team to address. Recommend solutions and action items.
Manage data and analytics related to surveys, RFPs, special programs (e.g. Diversity Lab’s Mansfield Rule), and internal and external data, including partnering with Finance and other internal functions to conduct sophisticated projections and analyses. Track the Firm’s progress through analyses of quantitative and qualitative data.
Provide recommendations for the development of training content in support of our DE&I agenda and for impactful and topical speakers for the DE&I speaker series.
Support law school on-campus interviewing programs and processes including managing pipeline programs, collaborating to organize on-campus outreach activities, and supporting diversity-related technology or events.
Provide leadership to our Employee Networks and office Diversity Committees to ensure consistency, support programming and increase impact.
Partner with our Client Development and Communications teams to build O’Melveny’s internal and external DE&I brand. Provide regular updates to the Firm about our DE&I goals, actions, and progress.
Assist with the planning and coordination of internal and external workshops, programs and meetings, including but not limited to sponsorships, attendance, catering, audio-visual, marketing, and promotion.
Manage the Firm's annual DE&I budget.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree required.
JD and/or an advanced degree in diversity and inclusion, adult education, organizational psychology, or a related field preferred.
4-6 years of experience in DE&I, including management experience.
Excellent editing, writing, and oral skills.
High organization skills with good attention to detail.
A strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
