Title: Deputy Counsel or Associate/Assistant Counsel (classified based on experience) - Employment and Operational Contracting University of Iowa Health Care seeks a health care attorney. UI Health Care is a leading academic medical center comprised of the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital, Carver College of Medicine, University of Iowa Physicians, and University of Iowa Health System. Reporting to the chief legal counsel for UI Health Care, this attorney will be responsible for providing legal advice in a fast-paced environment in support of UI Health Care and its affiliated entities as part of a collaborative team. This position will provide a broad range of health care legal services with an emphasis on employment law matters (employment, labor, medical staff, faculty affairs) and support operational contracts (e.g., information technology)). A successful candidate will possess: integrity, dependability, excellent judgment, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, discretion, excellent writing, communication and organizational skills, be a good listener with a positive attitude, practice with attention to detail, have the ability to interact with many individuals at a professional level, and be able to effectively meet deadlines while handling conflicting priorities. Requirements include a Juris Doctorate or equivalent law degree, and admission in good standing with the Iowa Bar or eligibility for admission required. The ideal candidate will be a highly engaged attorney with a strong health law background. Experience with employment law, medical staff matters, and contract negotiation/review/drafting preferred.
