We have the opportunity for an experienced Senior Data Analyst to join the firm’s Practice Intelligence team. Senior Data Analysts are responsible for developing and implementing and scaling sophisticated analytic solutions for the firm. This Senior Data Analyst position will perform a number of duties, including developing processes and techniques to locate and extract relevant data from a number of divergent data sources, determining how best to analyze the data extracted, generating descriptive and statistical analysis on the data, and scaling these solutions to deploy them in user-friendly method. Additionally, as a Senior Data Analyst this role will guide and instruct more junior data analysts on solutions and best practices.
Locate the necessary data sources, extract and convert raw, sometimes discordant data into structured files ready for analysis, verify data integrity, run preliminary descriptive analyses, finalize documents and data for production.
Manipulate, clean, analyze, and refine data using a variety of tools including Python, Excel, R, and other software tools.
Determine and implement the best software and methodology to achieve the desired goal of the analysis.
Develop, implement and scale software solutions that help to automate or improve data-related workflows, including the extraction, analysis, and presentation of the data.
Create dashboards and other data visualizations to help drive insights and tell the story of the analysis.
Utilize a variety of NLP platforms to extract and structure text from a variety of unstructured document sources and formats.
Utilize machine learning and other AI algorithms to generate descriptive and predictive data models based on a variety of data sources.
Develop and document processes and techniques used to extract, clean, and analyze data.
Explain your work to others with varying degrees of technical experience.
Daily interaction with attorneys, clients and users, including presenting findings and summaries of analyses as well collaborating to create data-driven solutions to improve their workflows.
Identifying opportunities to leverage internal and external data sources to create value for Firm lawyers and operations – including marketing, pricing efficiencies, talent and retention.
Perform analysis related to a number of employment-specific project types, including pay equity, reduction-in-force, employment discrimination, and other exposure or damages models.
An interest in workforce/people analytics and leveraging data to assist clients with creating more efficient, productive workforces through predictive analytics.
Manage your projects and work with minimal direction to ensure that deadlines are met and relevant stakeholders are kept in the loop.
Mentor and instruct more junior data analysts to ensure that that exceptional work product is delivered consistently and in a timely fashion.
Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, or other quantitative field or a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in another field and equivalent work experience in a quantitative capacity.
At least 5 years’ experience developing and deploying analytical solutions in Python, including pandas, numpy, and NLTK.
At least 3-5 years’ experience working with various NLP platforms such as CoreNLP, spaCy, and/or other NER-related tools as well as other machine learning algorithms such as BERT, FastText, and/or ELMo.
Significant experience moving projects along the SDLC from analysis to MVP to deployment and scaling to various levels of the organization.
Significant experience generating structured “clean” data from unstructured text documents, including extracting data from the text of the document itself as well as associated metadata.
Significant Experience with Tableau, Power BI, or other data visualization platforms.
Experience using Floydhub, AWS, Google Cloud, or other cloud-based deep learning services.
Expert-level Excel skills and familiarity with MS Office suite.
Knowledge or interest in statistical software is a plus (R, SAS, STATA, SPSS).
Technical expertise regarding data models, database design, data mining and segmentation techniques, as well as familiarity with SQL.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
Familiarity with Agile project management.
Comfortable interacting with attorneys and taking on prominent role related to data, including presenting the results of your analysis to clients and stakeholders.
Team player, customer service focused, and adept at multi-tasking and prioritization.
Willingness to mentor less experienced members of the team in developing solutions and best practices.
Ability to work independently and efficiently under time constraints and be able to thrive within the firm's highly dynamic environment.
Initiative and problem-solving abilities with a focus on building it better and continuous improvement.
Keen interest in technology and innovation, and ability to quickly learn new platforms.
Experience working in a law firm, particularly in employment litigation, is a plus.
