This attorney position provides legal advice and support in Visa’s Global Litigation & Competition group with a particular focus on managing and developing strategic approaches to antitrust and competition law issues and matters. This role will report into the Global Litigation & Competition team in the Legal Department.
Responsibilities include advising and counseling business clients on antitrust and competition law issues and management and strategy of antitrust and competition law matters related to Visa’s global payments business. Matters can include antitrust and competition law disputes and investigations, mergers & acquisitions, and engagement with regulatory authorities. Responsibilities may also include assisting on commercial litigation matters. Position will require management of Visa’s external litigation counsel relationships, including compliance with internal guidelines for the selection, management, case evaluation, fee arrangements, budgets, and billing.
This position requires an individual with extensive experience with antitrust and competition law issues, strategic problem solving skills, reliable judgment, excellent written and oral communication skills, comfort engaging with senior executives and other clients, and ability to lead and mentor colleagues.
Basic Qualifications:
Education: Juris Doctorate
10+ years of legal experience with at least 7 years of antitrust and competition law experience
Preferred Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have significant antitrust and competition law experience with some litigation experience, antitrust agency (e.g., U.S. Department of Justice) experience is a plus, listed (SEC compliant) company experience is a plus, member in good standing of the California state bar, exceptional record of achievement in developing and delivering commercially-oriented solutions to legal problems, and a track record in developing legal strategies to support business growth.
