The Boeing Company is conducting a search for a Senior Counsel, Labor & Employment located in St. Louis, Missouri. The position will provide legal advice to internal clients on a wide variety of labor and employment matters and manage employment-related litigation. It will interface directly with business leaders, Human Resources professionals, and other company attorneys and executives in all aspects of the enterprise, and at all levels of the company.
This experienced labor and employment law attorney will:
Provide advice and counsel to executives and managers of Boeing’s business units and subsidiaries, Human Resources, Labor/Employee Relations, Ethics, and investigatory teams.
Manage and oversee outside counsel on single-plaintiff and class action employment litigation and administrative claims (g., ADA, FMLA, ADEA, Title VII, FLSA, SCA, retaliation, whistleblower, and similar state-law claims), including establishing and supervising litigation and outside counsel budgets.
Represent the Company’s interests in matters before the EEOC and U.S. DOL, as well as state agencies on discrimination complaints, audits, mediation, and administrative proceedings.
Handle traditional labor matters as required, in partnership with internal subject matter experts. Prior labor experience not required.
Provide employment and labor guidance and assistance on mergers and acquisitions, including but not limited to due diligence, transactional agreements, retention agreements, and other employment-related agreements,
Provide training and legal updates on labor/employment law developments.
Opportunities will also be available to take on some additional non-labor/employment-related business counseling responsibilities within Boeing Defense, Space & Security. An applicant’s interest in and willingness to engage in these additional responsibilities will be considered favorably.

KEY CHARACTERISTICS AND QUALIFIERS:
Candidates for this position will have broad-based knowledge of labor and employment laws and specialize in handling all matters associated with these areas. At a minimum, candidates will have 9+ years’ experience gained in the following areas in any combination of experience in a major law firm, a corporate in-house position, and/or a government agency (with prior in-house experience preferred):
J.D. from a national accredited law school with excellent academic performance demonstrated.
Admission in good standing to the Bar of any state with the willingness to become admitted in the State of Missouri. Strong preference for prior Missouri practice and expertise.
Demonstrated leadership ability in an organizational setting, law firm, government agency and/or corporation.
Candidates must have exceptional interpersonal skills and must be able to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
Outstanding written and verbal communications skills are essential, including excellent presentation and speaking skills.
Excellent business judgment and the ability to navigate a highly matrixed organization are essential.
Ability to think on your feet and respond promptly and professionally, on a daily basis, to immediate business demands and inquiries.
Ability to travel for business is required, but not frequent
