Cohen Milstein’s Washington, D.C. office is seeking an IT Director to manage the overall administration, coordination, evaluation and continual improvement of the Firm's technology functions. This solutions-oriented senior leader will be responsible for all technology strategy and functions within the Firm, and partner with various Practice Groups and Administrative Departments to innovate and drive continuous improvement enabled by IT solutions. Duties include but are not limited to the following:
Develop a multi-year strategic technology plan in collaboration with attorneys, staff, our outside partners, and Firm management; update and report results annually.
Partner with our outside vendors on planning and management of all IT infrastructure and applications, including evaluation of any changes to such infrastructure or applications, and documenting costs, timelines, risks and goals to set expectations and monitor success.
Provide ongoing analysis, advice, education and leadership on the technological issues and technologies targeted for the legal market and that may impact the delivery of legal services for the Firm. Be proactive, by identifying and recommending to practice groups the appropriate technology resources for the most efficient and effective execution of their practice.
Provide regular management-level status reports on all aspects of the IT department's activities including key help desk metrics, training initiatives, network operational status, status of current initiatives, and progress towards goals.
Forecast and manage an annual technology budget to maximize benefits, while containing costs, and provide quarterly reports. This includes preparing RFPs; soliciting and evaluating bids, with input as appropriate from our outside partners.
Identify, develop and provide technology-related training.
Supervise one onsite staff person and onsite service providers, to ensure that top quality and responsive service is being provided.
Coordinate the activities of outside vendors and consultants to ensure that they are being used effectively to meet the needs of the Firm.
Maintain accurate and up-to date documentation for all IT-related tasks, functions and systems.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related discipline
8-10 years of experience managing a comparable size information technology operation in a law firm environment
Experience envisioning long-range technology plans, communicating their value, and developing buy-in with executive management and principals
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Proven written and oral communication skills with all levels of personnel in an organization, including the ability to document information and disseminate it strategically and skilled at communicating about technology issues to non-technical audiences.
