Primarily responsible for supporting all aspects of the associate attorney recruitment function including: providing support to the Director – Legal Recruiting and Professional Development, assisting with and providing support for lateral candidate recruitment and selection; assisting with on-boarding and integration for new attorneys; assisting with the firm’s associate retention initiatives and professional development programming. **This position could work from our Kansas City, MO, St. Louis, MO or Denver, CO offices.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Lateral Associate Recruiting
o Develops and maintains relationships with Office Partners in Charge, Practice Group Leads, Directors of Practice Group Management, and other responsible parties regarding the ongoing hiring needs of practice offices
o Work with Director to post jobs, conduct passive candidate searches, vet candidates, and maintain communication with attorney candidates; plan and coordinate on-site interview schedules and assist with greeting or closing with on-site candidate, manage interview feedback, etc.
o Manages the internal due diligence and approval processes for associate hires
o Assists with presenting offers to candidates as well as the intake and onboarding process
o Assists with regular updates to external and internal websites
o Assists with Partner and Counsel interview planning and logistics as necessary
o Provides oversight to the Recruiting and Professional Development Coordinator
Associate Retention and Professional Development
o Works with the Professional Development Committee in developing and creating initiatives and attorney development programs.
o Regularly articulates and promotes professional development programs to attorneys. Builds awareness, understanding and support for the Firm’s professional development initiatives.
o Oversees the formal Mentoring Program and coordinates the mentor selection process.
o Administers orientation programming
o Manages firm-wide CLE subscriptions
Firm Wide Initiatives & Ad Hoc Projects
o Assists with ad hoc projects and initiatives as needed. Assists others with managing several firm-wide committees and initiatives, including the Associate Recruiting Committee
o Maintains membership in NALP and engages with both national local groups in the legal recruiting and diversity industry, as well as provides support to the firm’s diversity & inclusion initiatives
o Directly supervises employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws
o Plans, assigns, and directs work
o Conducts performance evaluations
o Establishes salary levels at the time of hire and at the point of performance reviews.
o Facilitates conflict resolutions
o Approves weekly time records
o Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
o Seven plus years’ experience recruiting in a professional services environment (law firm preferred)
o Two plus years of management experience
o Ability to work in a highly confidential environment
o Strong interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written
o Ability to establish priorities and remain flexible
o Proactive, strategic thinker with acute attention to detail
o Must be self-driven and able to work as a team player
