Stradley Ronon Stevens & Young, LLP is looking for a dynamic and innovative Chief Talent Officer (CTO) to lead the HR team. The CTO is responsible for developing and executing human resource strategies in support of the overall business plan and strategic direction of the firm, specifically in the areas of talent management, change management, organizational and performance management, strategic hiring, training and development, diversity, compensation and benefits. The CTO provides strategic leadership in the areas of human resources, the recruitment and retention of attorneys and business professionals, diversity and professional development. Essential duties are performed personally or through delegation/supervision of team members.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but may not be limited to, the following:
Crafts, implements and oversees a comprehensive talent management strategy and specific tactics around strategic hiring, the professional development of attorneys and business professionals, performance management and diversity and inclusion.
Under the direction of the Executive Director, serves on the core leadership team as a functional expert and thought leader on key talent acquisition, development and retention strategies.
Provides strategic guidance in the areas of compensation and benefits, policy development, legal compliance, employee relations and employee communications.
Manages a team of professionals in the areas of attorney/business professionals recruitment, professional development, human resources and diversity, supporting the execution of existing or new processes and initiatives.
Responsibilities include interviewing, training and developing employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems and making recommendations for hiring, promotion, compensation and termination.
Manages the overall talent budget and defines, tracks and reports success metrics.
Exhibits a high degree of initiative and critical-thinking skills in exercising independent judgment, making decisions and managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, detail-oriented work environment. Ability to function in stressful situations and think strategically and analytically to troubleshoot and resolve issues quickly.
Demonstrates excellent problem resolution, and follow-through skills. Ability to identify and analyze complex business administration-related issues and problems and develop, recommend and implement solutions. Ability to respond to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
Handles such other duties as may be assigned or required from time to time.
Understands the financial metrics and economic drivers important to law firms and can apply those metrics/drivers in connection with the management of the department

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and 10 or more years progressive business management experience in a law firm (required), along with a strong background in professional development/organizational design, recruitment, human resources and diversity/inclusion.
A proven ability to attract and retain outstanding talent and to assemble, lead and motivate high performance teams.
Superior interpersonal communication and presentation skills including negotiation, influence and consensus-building in interactions with employees and partners at all levels as well as with clients, vendors and agencies. Ability to communicate with courtesy and diplomacy, efficiently follow written and verbal instructions, provide information, and maintain effective relationships with a diverse group of attorneys, clients, business professionals, vendors and outside contacts.
Knowledge of human resource management and talent development with a proven track record of providing excellent customer service.
Able to exercise independent judgment and decision-making skills and inspire innovation, creative thinking and decision-making from others.
Experience with managing growth and leading new business initiatives.
Outstanding analytical skills requiring an aptitude for detail, precision and logic, with comprehensive knowledge of complex business principles and practices in order to conduct detailed analyses of business operations.
Exceptional organizational skills including record-keeping, data collection, and system information analysis. Ability to compile and analyze data, and furnish concise, detailed information in report format, written correspondence, email or verbally.
Strong supervisory and managerial skills in interacting and communicating with team and others, providing instruction and direction, determining workloads and work priorities and coordinating the activities of a geographically dispersed work team.
Ability to understand and support firm goals, services, culture, and strategy in order to represent the firm in a positive, professional manner.
