The Iowa Judicial Branch has an opportunity for an attorney to serve as the counsel to the state court administrator. This position is responsible for providing legal counsel and advice to judicial officers and employees of the judicial branch. This position reports directly to the state court administrator and may supervise another attorney. Performs extensive electronic and manual research of laws, legal opinions, policies, regulations, and legal texts, and precedents. Oversees State Court Administration staff attorneys by evaluating their work, make hiring selections, performance management, including discipline, leave management, work schedules, and managing assignments. Provides legal advice, research and analysis on legal questions involving court administration. Supervises and coordinates the review of procedures manuals, operational manuals, bench books, and other materials, including review and comment, research or redrafting and periodic updating. Reviews new legislation and assists in implementation. Provides guidance and support to clerks of court, juvenile court services, and district court administration to insure consistency statewide. Advises on policies and procedures that impact management and administration of state court administration and courts statewide. Responds to inquiries from judges, court administrators and other staff regarding matters affecting the district court. Responds to public records requests and answers questions regarding public records issues Provide legal and policy analysis and advice to the SCA. Staffs SCA committees and prepares legal analysis as needed. Drafts administrative directives. |
