To provide professional legal support to the Law Department, under the direction and supervision of the Departmentâ��s attorneys, in representing and responding to the needs of the Company (â��the clientâ��). General responsibilities include providing assistance to department lawyers, facility A-Team members, Tenet employees, outside counsel, government agencies and other individuals and vendors outside of Tenet in accomplishing department and specific project goals.
Specifically, this position will provide paralegal support to regional counsel responsible for maintaining the legal compliance of Tenet facilities within federal Fraud & Abuse laws (Anti-kickback Statute / Stark) and state laws. They are also available to answer any hospital operational issues. Responsibilities may include:
Draft and review referral source contracts, transactional and legal documents, ranging from routine to complex;
Perform legal, factual and other independent research necessary to support referral source contract packages;
Field referral source questions regarding professional and administrative service arrangements, physician recruitment packages, MOB leasing issues and managed care ancillary services arrangements;
Maintain applicable market rent studies and correspondence, ground and master leases in support of facility MOB leases and subleases;
Follow up with facilities regarding incomplete and/or unsatisfactory referral source contract packages;
Develop a good understanding of facts, issues, problems and solutions associated with facility operations; develop approached for fulfilling the goals of regional counsel and the ensuring consistency with the department;
Perform additional projects as requested.
Bachelorâ��s degree from an accredited institution (with an emphasis in a related field preferred); or an AA degree with legal work experience of a nature and length of time acceptable to the company; and/or a certificate from an ABA approved paralegal training program or another paralegal training program acceptable to the company; or training and/or experience in the legal field that adequately prepares and individual to assume paralegal responsibilities.
Has 3-6 years paralegal experience or other relevant experience acceptable to the company
