The Madison Office of the City Attorney is seeking two qualified candidates for the position of Assistant City Attorney. These positions involve entry-level professional legal work in the preparation and prosecution of cases in municipal court and less frequently, circuit court. These positions may involve diverse legal activities including civil litigation, appellate work, general law practice, ordinance drafting, and legal advice to city agencies (consistent with the needs of the organization). This class encompasses all non-managerial positions engaged in professional legal work within the City Attorney's office. The Office of the City Attorney provides a supportive work environment with training and guidance from other team members and colleagues. Work is performed with varying degrees of independence as employees gain necessary proficiencies. Work assignments, in addition to the prosecutorial assignment, are assigned as employees gain necessary proficiencies, and there is an opportunity to be exposed to, and learn, a variety of areas of municipal practice.
