Our Western regional, large healthcare provider has again retained us exclusively to recruit a talented VP, Senior Labor and Employment attorney. Under guidance of the SVP, Labor and Employment Counsel, and in coordination with other Labor/Employment attorneys in this established legal group, this position will serve employees and managers throughout the client's system, including representation and day-to-day advice in all aspects of L&E matters and related litigation. Emphasis is on representing those in the client's system in traditional labor matters, such as serving as spokesperson during collective bargaining negotiations, organizing issues from the pre-petition stage through post-election procedures, litigation before the NLRB, and arbitration and complex grievances. The position represents employers in the system before the EEOC, DOL, and corollary state agencies, NLRB, and other administrative forums. The role provides advice and guidance in the development of labor relations strategies, communications and education. Also providing day-to-day employment advice and counsel, and partners with teammates to manage litigation. The successful candidate must have strong written and verbal communication skills, an ability to deliver on commitments, and be able to integrate many approaches and initiatives. The attorney must be relationship-driven and perform all duties in a manner that promotes a team concept and reflects the client health care provider's mission and core values. This attorney role must collaborate and advise the organization's HR Business Partners and HR Leaders, Chief Executives, and Managers. The attorney must also work collaboratively with other L&E Counsel and the attorneys in the Department of Legal Affairs to ensure alignment on legal matters.
JD from an accredited law school. Admission to the State Bar of California, Oregon or Washington is preferred for continued employment. Extensive experience (generally more than 10 years) in practicing labor and employment law, with in-depth knowledge of the NLRA, collective bargaining negotiations and NLRB procedure. Experience with advising employers regarding OFCCP and AAP compliance preferred.
Telecommuting is allowed. Employer will assist with relocation costs.
