Reporting to the Principal Legal Financial Analyst, the Legal Financial Services Analyst uses skills as a seasoned, experienced financial services professional responsible for a wide array of financial services for a fast paced, challenging, supportive office of over 100 staff and attorneys combined. Leads financial processing functions including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Cashiering and Collections for accuracy and ensures that daily operations run smoothly. Independently manages the legal timekeeping process and provides guidance and assistance to colleagues submitting requests for reimbursement. Assists with the preparation of quarterly budget projections and reporting. Success in this position requires strong time management and organizational skills in addition to excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.

Client Service and Financial Services
Leads financial processing functions including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Cashiering and Collections for accuracy and ensures that daily operations run smoothly.
With minimal supervision, applies financial services concepts (i. e., accounting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, collections and billing), to resolve issues, and prepare business process procedures and policy recommendations.
Serves as the primary department resource on new financial services policies and procedures. Provides information and answers questions to promote an effective teamwork environment.
Applies a wide variety of internal and external policies and regulations to address a range of issues such as regulatory compliance, tax implications, recovery of cash, risk management, and the organized implementation of a diverse range of financial services for the department.
Cross trains with Billing Operations Analyst. Helps train new staff and creates effective teamwork environment.
Assesses, recommends, and implements changes as needed to ensure financial processes maintain compliance with federal and state requirements and internal financial/audit policies.
Accounting and Budgeting
Assists with preparing quarterly forecasting, budget analysis and reporting by running reports and gathering data.
Performs account reconciliations and prepares reports.
Proactively identifies variances and discrepancies and researches causes in the financial system. Processes corrections.
Creates, analyzes, and gives recommendations for complex summaries and proposals relative to a diverse range of topics to include new financial procedures and/or services, changes in regulations, tax implications.
Recommends and implements quality customer service standards and procedures to affect various constituencies, including internal department and external vendors.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in financial services or accounting. Thorough knowledge of financial processes, policies and procedures.
Strong proficiency in the use of spreadsheet and database software.
Strong interpersonal skills, analytical skills, service orientation, active listening, critical thinking, attention to detail, ability to multi-task in a high volume environment, organizational skills, effective verbal and written communication skills, sound judgment and decision making; ability to develop original ideas to solve problems.
Ability to function effectively as a member of a team.
Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
Leadership skills to provide guidance, coaching and mentoring to professional and support staff.
Thorough knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.
Thorough knowledge of financial data management and reporting systems.
Knowledge of Legal Operations - experience working for a law department or law firm
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, this position currently works remotely but is expected to be required to work in the Oakland office once onsite operations resume.
