Bucknell University seeks applications for an Assistant General Counsel to work primarily as a transactional attorney in the areas of business, finance, real estate, procurement, entrepreneurship, and contracts. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience analyzing complex issues and offering appropriate legal guidance; exercising excellent judgment; and handling multiple matters simultaneously while working independently to achieve the objectives of the University.
As one member of the two-attorney office, the Assistant General Counsel will assist in the delivery of timely and comprehensive legal advice and counsel to the University, primarily to its Board of Trustees, President, and senior administration, and also to University faculty and staff. As a small office with a general practice, the Assistant General Counsel may also be asked to provide advice and counsel on the wide range of issues related to higher education.
This position reports to the General Counsel.
Job Duties: The Assistant General Counsel will be expected to:
Draft, review, and offer advice regarding University contracts in areas including but not limited to, procurement, personal services, real estate, licensing, corporate partnerships, and grants.
Interpret local, state, and federal laws and regulations as they apply to University activities, especially on transactional matters.
Advise and aid in the development of University policy related to transactional, business, and immigration matters.
Develop and provide training on legal and compliance issues related to transactions and entrepreneurial activity in the University.
Support and contribute to the University's commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Minimum Qualifications: Law degree and a minimum of two years of experience either in house or at a law firm. Must be a member of the Pennsylvania Bar or eligible for admission on motion within six months of employment. Must be able to demonstrate significant experience advising, drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts and other complex transactions.
Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to individuals with experience representing institutions of higher education or other complex organizations.
Work Type: This is a full-time, 12-month, exempt, benefits eligible position.
