The Program Coordinator will assist in designing and implementing a new collaborative project between Detroit Mercy Law and the doctoral program in the psychology department of the University of Detroit Mercy that has the purpose of assisting veterans. The program will include outreach and education on veterans issues, as well as coordinating other aspects of the program as directed.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Development of curricula for seminars and educational sessions for veterans and doctoral students in psychology.
Outreach to veterans.
Planning, scheduling and coordination of seminars and educational sessions.
Scheduling and coordination of assessments and treatment with psychology doctoral students and faculty
Creating processes and documenting the Project’s implementation for the retention of institutional knowledge.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
(1) Minimum of a college degree; advanced training in law or psychology would be beneficial; (2) strong interest, and some experience, in working on veterans and/or mental health issues; (3) strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, including experience working with people from diverse backgrounds; (4) ability to think imaginatively and critically about approaches to veterans mental health issues; (5) ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, administrators and staff; (6) ability to work collaboratively with community groups, veterans organizations, and the VA; (7) a strong work ethic, and demonstrated understanding of the applicable ethical rules, and (8) the ability to juggle multiple competing priorities and meet firm deadlines.
This would be an ideal position for an advanced law student, psychology graduate student, recent law school or psychology graduate, practicing psychologist, or attorney knowledgeable in veterans law.

Physical Requirements
Job may require lifting light weight objects (1 to 10 pounds) with no repetitive bending or stooping. Occasionally lift average weight objects (1 to 10 pounds).

Salary/Pay Information
$25.00 per hour/minimum
Anticipated Schedule
This is a temporary part-time position working 15 hours per week.
Special Instructions to Applicants
This temporary part-time position is a grant funded position. It is funded through the end of 2022 but has the potential for extension. This new position will work with the Veterans Law Clinic Director, Fellow and students, and coordinate with the Department of Psychology to coordinate training and education and to collaborate assistance for veterans with the Veterans Law Clinic and the Department of Psychology.
