Equitable has a current open opportunity for a Senior Life Advanced Markets Attorney. The candidate would provide subject matter expertise and thought leadership to Equitable's Life Insurance business line, whose main mission is to help clients secure their financial well-being so they can pursue long and fulfilling lives. This individual will be part of a highly skilled, highly collaborative team whose key focus is to identify and assess factors impacting the life insurance marketplace while also providing direct case consultation and solution designs. This individual would also partner directly and indirectly with Financial Advisors, Broker Dealers, Financial Institutions, Agencies, Equitable sales teams and other key Equitable clients (internally and externally) in the advanced markets areas including, but not limited to estate and wealth transfer planning, using life insurance for retirement accumulation and distribution planning, business and benefit planning, tax planning for and involving life insurance as well as charitable planning.
The Senior Life Advanced Markets Attorney will often be involved in the review of sales strategies and approaches from both internal and external sources to determine their impact and risk to Equitable. This review may include making balanced recommendations that could affect significant amounts of revenue. They will additionally act in a legal advisory capacity on behalf of the Life Sales and Distribution organizations on regulatory, tax and other legal issues with Legal, Compliance, other Advanced Marketing units both internally or externally (competitors), Anti-Money Laundering, Audit, Underwriting, Product, Communications, and Marketing. They will also frequently be called upon to make decisions and recommendations that will affect policies on areas ranging from compliance procedures, sales concepts, sales practices and sales that are in the best interests of Equitable. These responsibilities and activities will be completed both individually or in conjunction with senior management, Legal, Underwriting, Product and Risk/Corporate Underwriting.
The successful candidate must possess demonstrated written and verbal communications skills including presentation skills. This is a highly visible role that may involve up to 25% travel to meetings to represent Equitable and the life Advanced Markets team. This would include training or presenting on sales concepts and topics that are relevant to Equitable's platform and offerings. On occasion this individual will be called upon to be visible beyond sales and training roles and play a role in industry functions and meetings.
This candidate must also be able to create marketing material and client presentations illustrating the complex techniques used in planning while addressing both legal and tax issues; many will be offered to external business partners, and must be coordinated with other divisions across Equitable
Expertise in Advanced Markets concepts, estate planning, benefit planning or finance is expected. Experience can be from prior work experience in a law office or accounting office, but experience with a life insurance firm, carrier or distribution organization is preferred.

Qualifications
Communicating Complex Concepts: Knowledge of effective presentation tools and techniques to ensure clear understanding; ability to use summarization and simplification techniques to explain complex technical concepts in simple, clear language appropriate to the audience.
Insurance Legal and Regulatory Environment: Knowledge of federal, state and local laws and regulations; ability to comply with these laws and regulations in insurance industry practices and activities.
Life Insurance: Knowledge of life insurance products, market segments and marketplaces; ability to apply knowledge of life insurance products, market segments and marketplaces to meet business goals and objectives.
Sales Scoping and Qualification: Knowledge of sales scoping and qualification techniques and skills; ability to identify and qualify potential sales opportunities for the organization.
Securities Laws and Regulations (SLR) Compliance: Knowledge of securities laws and regulations; ability to find out and comply with relevant laws and regulations during business activities.
Tax Planning: knowledge of objectives and operation of tax planning; ability to implement appropriate methods and approaches to meet business goals in various environment.
Written Communications: Knowledge of written communications issues; ability to produce a variety of business documents that demonstrate command of language, clarity of thought, orderliness of presentation while communicating ideas, information and requirements effectively.

Other Qualifications:
JD required.
FINRA Series 6 or 7 & Series 63 & State Life Health and Variable Insurance Licenses required within 120 days of hire. FINRA Series 24 or 26, CLU, ChFC, or CFP designations preferred.
8+ years of experience required.
Proven experience in Advanced Markets at other carriers, in law or CPA firms and/or at other sales organizations.
Understanding of life insurance sales process, life insurance products and advanced sales design concepts is required.
Candidate will be expected to develop an understanding of Equitable's sales platforms and products.
Candidate will need to be web savvy and understand the training platform that supports our producer training initiatives.
Ideal candidate should understand the dynamics, constraints, and market of the life product distributors that deal with broker dealers, brokerage agencies, brokers, registered reps, career agents.
Ability to engage in teamwork and relationship building skills.
