IGTs Legal Department has an exciting opportunity for a litigation attorney. This attorney will be responsible for working across the Legal Department and the business units we support to protect the company's interests, including its broad IP portfolio, by supervising complex litigation and pre-litigation matters, collaborating with legal colleagues, and advising internal clients on emerging issues and risks.
The selected attorney will act with the highest level of integrity and business and personal ethical standards in all aspects of job performance. The role is based in Providence, RI. There is flexibility to work remotely for part of the week based on agreed working patterns.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Manage pre-litigation claims, settlement negotiations and other ADR, and federal and state litigation, either directly or through oversight of outside counsel.
Draft, review, and revise pleadings, motions, settlement agreements, and other litigation-based documents.
Manage discovery process, coordinating document collection, e-discovery, witness identification and interviews, and related strategy.
Assist in preparing fact witnesses, corporate designees, and experts.
Attend depositions, hearings, trials, and other case events as appropriate.
Respond to subpoenas and other official inquiries.
Prepare and offer presentations on litigations to internal leaders. Coordinate required internal and external litigation reporting.
Minimize legal exposure by proactively reviewing existing policies, practices, forms, and contracts, and providing counsel on emerging risks and issues. Monitor changes in relevant laws and regulations and communicate guidance to appropriate colleagues.
Develop and present employee training on litigation issues and related policies and practices.
Establish and maintain relationships, credibility, and trust with clients, legal team members, and other colleagues.
Contribute to global legal team projects and strategic initiatives.
Perform other tasks as assigned from time to time by the Assistant General Counsel- Litigation & Employment.
Job Requirements - Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Experience managing complex civil litigation matters on a variety of topics before federal and state courts.
Comprehensive knowledge of the discovery process and experience coordinating e-discovery efforts.
Ability to negotiate resolutions to disputes utilizing creative problem-solving skills.
Superior abilities in analyzing complicated laws and regulations and translating them into practical, business-oriented legal counsel.
Competence as a lawyer; ability to independently manage heavy workload in a high-pressure environment.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills within and across departments and externally; must be proactive in providing counsel to clients.
Outstanding organizational skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously and effectively prioritize deadlines.
Laser-focus on client-service excellence by being highly proactive, responsive, adaptable, and team-oriented.
Required Qualifications
J.D. degree from an accredited law school and active license, in good standing, to practice law in one or more states.
5+ years of substantive complex litigation experience with an in-house legal department and/or a top-tier law firm
Class action experience is preferred, but not required.
