The UCSD Health Sciences Business Contracting office oversees the contracting process for the School of Medicine, Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, the Herbert Wertheim School of Public Health UC San Diego Health and faculty members and other core service units within Health Sciences. The revenue generated by negotiating contracts on behalf of Health Sciences is over $200 million annually. The Business Contracting office serves the educational, clinical and community service missions of Health Sciences by facilitating the necessary agreements for clinical services, educational training rotations of medical students, residents and fellows, and non-research services provided by University experts for industry collaborations, educational institutions both in the US and internationally.

Under the direction of the Associate Director of Business Contracting (ADBC), the Senior Business Contracting Analyst (BCA) will conduct decision and support analysis in the Vice Chancellor for Health Sciences (VCHS) Office related to University administration, organization, and policies and procedures related to contracting for services and educational programs in the School of Medicine, Skaggs School of Pharmacy, Herbert Wertheim School of Public Health and the UC San Diego Health. The Senior BCA will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of all aspects of the Business Contracting office from inception through execution of contracts and their renewals. The Senior BCA will provide experienced guidance to faculty, department chief administrative officers, and other analysts as well as external entity's corporate officers, attorneys, and legal departments. In addition, the position provides analysis on government, University of California Office of the President (UCOP), and campus policies and procedures (PP). This position is accountable for complex decisions for the faculty, and Health Sciences (HS) leaders related to risk and health law compliance arising from the varied business transactions. The Senior BCA uses skilled negotiation with outside private industry officers and government contracting officials to comply and meet UC contracting and related legal standards.

The Senior BCA will manage and conduct independent research and analysis. Incumbent will process conflict of interest verifications, professional liability, export control and drafting agreements. The Senior BCA must independently review and assess information to be complete and accurate for timely transaction and processing of contract documents to meet the required deadlines. Duties include drafting correspondence, creating files and database records and compiling all needed materials for a agreement processing. The Senior BCA will advise faculty and department business staff to answer questions and solve issues related UC Policy and legal requirements. This position is independently responsible for management of the contract renewal process. This position manages and conducts the independent review and analysis of agreement requirements for managing the Business Contracting workflow. The Senior BCA will draft and/or edit a wide variety of correspondence in relation agreement status with external entities to legally bind The Regents.

This Senior BCA position must analyze, survey, and synthesize data for the office workflow to maintain data integrity. Incumbent must be experienced in using spreadsheets and databases in order to interpret and organize Business Contracting Office (BCO) information.
