The City of Del Rio is seeking an experienced and dedicated legal professional to serve as its next City Attorney. The ideal candidate will be a be a highly capable leader with great organizational skills and an understanding of the challenges facing the City. The selected candidate will have extensive knowledge of Texas law, City Codes and Charter provisions, human resources law, procurement law, and Open Government Law. A good working knowledge of Texas Civil Service laws, processes, and requirements is critical. The ideal candidate will also be skilled in negotiating agreements that accommodate conflicting interests and viewpoints. A Juris Doctorate from an ABA accredited law school and license to practice law in the State of Texas is required. The candidate shall be a member in good standing of the State Bar of Texas and licensed to practice before the Supreme Court of Texas and the must obtain licensure to practice in the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas within one year of hire. Candidates must also possess five (5) years of relevant experience, preferably in municipal work. The ability to speak Spanish is desired but not required.
