The General Counsel’s office seeks a full time attorney. The position will ultimately be located in any office location of Womble Bond Dickinson (US) LLP. In light of current COVID-19 precautionary measures, the position will be temporarily remote.
The role will be primarily responsible for: (i) Conflict and ethical issue resolution, including overseeing conflicts checks associated with existing and potential new business; (ii) Clearing and onboarding lateral hires; (iii) Client engagement, including reviewing and drafting waiver and engagement letters, as well as reviewing and providing advice on Outside Counsel Guidelines; (iv) Audits, including the substantive review of firm audit responses; (v) Examining firm operations, including the development of better and more efficient processes and procedures and (vi) other ethics and professional responsibility related duties as assigned. Other responsibilities will likely include working with and overseeing client-facing documentation maintenance (e.g., Intapp Terms), drafting and maintaining ethical screens and litigation holds, implementing strategic initiatives, providing firmwide training and managing compliance initiatives. All of this will require interacting with attorneys and firm personnel to discuss conflicts issues and action items.
Job Requirements:
- Command of the Model Rules of Professional Conduct
- Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school and licensed (in good standing) in the jurisdiction in which the candidate is located
- At least 2-6 years of broad experience working in law firms
- Understanding of how legal issues impact law firms
- High degree of professional ethics
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- High level of judgment, applying knowledge and experience to provide practical and effective business solutions
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidential and sensitive data
- Responsive with a sense of urgency and ability to prioritize tasks
- Creative and balanced problem-solving skills with a mindset to getting to “Yes”
- Strong attention to detail with ability to work efficiently and with precision
- Ability to work effectively with people at all levels in an organization
- Ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment while juggling multiple competing tasks and demands
- Adept at problem-solving
- Will support the firm’s processes and technology to be as efficient as possible
- Desire to improve operational efficiencies
- Ability to demonstrate dependability and initiative
- Ability to align risk mitigation strategies with business objectives
- Understanding that firm lawyers and personnel are our clients
- Working knowledge of Intapp intake/conflicts software highly desired
