As a member of the Firmwide Attorney Engagement - Workflow Integration Department, the Legal Practice Integration Manager will report to the FW Director of Legal Recruiting & Development and help support the development of our attorneys, the needs of our Partners, and ultimately the Firm’s Open Assignment System across our Bay Area and Salt Lake City offices. This individual will assist Associates as they integrate and advance by facilitating access and introductions to new work matters and Partners.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (This list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented and changed as necessary.)
Significant role in overseeing associate activity levels and helping anticipate associate capacity constraints and availability.
Promote and monitor the sharing of resources efficiently across client matters by building key relationships within the department to address and proactively manage scheduling conflicts.
Artfully balance the needs of the Open Assignment System, with thoughtful recommendations for both Partners and Associates regarding availability for matters.
Assist with pairing resources to projects to cope with personnel leaving or joining, or to meet changing client needs (to either delay or speed up the project).
Regularly communicate any changes in personnel on client matters, as well as any performance concerns raised by teams.
Build key relationships with LRD and Corporate Practice attorneys to address resource needs and proactively manage conflicts.
Help integrate new hires into the Open Assignment System.
Assist Partners in monitoring total headcount for long/short-term recruiting purposes.
Prioritize attorney availability recommendations based on client risk, specialization requirements, and timing constraints.
Consult with firm leadership as needed, to overcome any outstanding issues or conflicts.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education, Work Experience, Skills
Bachelor’s degree required, JD preferred with transactional background. Minimum of 7-10 years of relevant work experience in a similar setting, law firm or professional services strongly preferred.
Candidates must have strong interpersonal and communication skills, project management, analytical skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Skilled in getting things done and overcoming obstacles to reach the goal. The ability to work effectively with all levels of management, and across all Kirkland departments and offices, is required.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, Resource Management/Scheduling Tools, and other related applications
Strong presence in the face of complexity and time-constrained challenges
Proficient at negotiating and managing conflict
Proven client service focus, with an ability to resolve issues quickly, and with a sense of urgency
Flexible in adapting to constantly changing priorities
Technologies/Software
Computer proficient with knowledge and understanding of various database systems including Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
