Under the direction of the General Counsel, the Attorney performs duties as assigned. The Legal Department provides legal services to the Airport Authority Board and Airport Authority Departments and Divisions, including (i) preparing all contracts, operating agreements, and leases between the Airport Authority and third parties; (ii) providing legal counsel to the Airport Authority Board and all Departments and divisions when requested; (iii) handling litigation and other legal proceedings against or by the Airport Authority; (iv) coordinating the legal services provided by outside counsel; and (v) handling all legal matters related to the governance of the Airport Authority. The ideal candidate shall have experience with real estate, development, leasing, construction and technology agreements. Background in commercial real estate transactions strongly desired.
4 or more years Four years of full time paid experience as an Attorney/Lawyer and expertise in one or more of the following practice areas: negotiating and preparing complex legal contracts, public finance/municipal bonds, construction law, real estate, environmental (including public utilities), municipal or governmental law (including public safety), public procurements (including knowledge of competitive solicitation practices for governmental or public sector entities), technology/intellectual property, airport federal regulatory compliance and/or litigation, or 4 or more years of experience representing municipal or governmental entities and/or airports, or general familiarity with federal aviation laws
ST of MI Driver License Must have a valid driver’s license and a safe, acceptable driving record. If current driver's license is issued in another state, a Michigan driver's license must be obtained within four (4) months of job start date.
ST of MI Bar Licensed Attorney Must be, or eligible to become, a member in good standing of the State Bar of Michigan
