Venable LLP's Commercial Litigation California practice group seeks a paralegal with a minimum of five years of experience to join the practice in the San Francisco office.
The main responsibilities to be handled by this paralegal are:
Prepare subpoenas and deposition notices;
Arrange for service of process;
Request records, medical records and authorizations;
Prepare cast of characters and chronology of events;
Prepare record summaries;
Draft form pleadings and form discovery;
Prepare page/line deposition summaries;
Prepare and organize exhibits for motions and /or depositions;
Perform social media search;
Cite checking and Shepardizing;
Create and maintain databases for case and document management;
Prepare spreadsheets and otherwise track discovery requests;
Organize and supervise document productions in conjunction with Practice Technology professionals and vendors;
Coordinate in and out-of-town depositions;
Oversee logistical preparations;
Prepare and organize trial notebooks and demonstrative exhibits; and,
Attend and assist at trial.
Ideal candidates should meet the following qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree with at least 5 years of substantive commercial litigation experience within a law firm;
Experience with e-filings in state and federal courts and/or working with other legal professionals to get the filings prepared and e-filed;
Experience with review tools such as Relativity, TextMap, and other share filing related software;
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel;
Outstanding organizational, administrative, and communication (oral and written) skills;
Possess high attention to detail, a strong work ethic and is self-motivated;
Demonstrate ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, efficiently multi-task and produce a high-end work product in a fast-paced environment;
Handle confidential and sensitive information with the appropriate discretion; and,
Ability and willingness to work overtime and travel.
